Life skills are widely used skills that are more or less relevant to a person depending on his/her life circumstances, culture, beliefs, age, geographic location etc. However, in 1999, the World Health Organisation identified ten key areas of life skills. Life skills help an individual to be successful in living a productive and satisfying life. In school setting, life skills are envisaged as a tool for excel in their life. In order to make a successful life in relation to family, community and workplace, individuals need an array of life skills.

Certificate course on Life Skills would provide ample opportunities to understand one’s own life skills and the course will give space to cultivate the art of developing life skills in relations to personal, familial and social life.

Eligibility

Candidates who have a bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of 45% of marks will be eligible, for the admission to this certification course. The admission is open to all the first semester students pursuing their post-graduate programmes and research scholars of Loyola College.

Duration: 40 hours

Course Objectives

The learner should be able to:

  • Understand life skills and how it can be used in their day to day life at individual, family and community level
  • Understand their group and learn to work as a team and as an individual
  • Equip the learner to use the knowledge in life skills to sensitise people on their personal skills and to work in collaboration with other agencies to enhance their client systems life skills.

METHODOLOGY

  • The Participatory Training Methodology of the session would necessitate an experiential, participatory, reflective, and self-learning mode of teaching. The course will be structured to include basic lectures, interactive group discussions, activity-oriented, film screenings, and much more on life skills.
