About Us

The alumni association of Loyola College of Social Sciences came into existence on 13th April, 1967. The idea of forming a former students’ forum was conceived by Rev.Fr. Jose Murickan S J while Prof. Gopalakrishnan Nair and Prof. Mariamma supported the initiative by preparing a draft constitution of the same. The first executive was formed with Rev. Fr.M.D.Varkey SJ, the Principal of the college as the president of the association. Rev.Fr. Jose Murickan S J. was elected as the Director and Mr. M P Viswam (MSW 1966 batch) was the Secretary. Mr.John Morris (MA sociology, 1965 Batch) was the Vice-president and Mr. Gopalakrishnan Nair was the Treasurer of the association. A five-member executive committee was also elected. Though the activities of the association started in 1967 the official inauguration was conducted on 27th March 1968 by Rev.Fr. Aikara SJ, the principal of St.Xaviers College, Trivandrum. Across time the association has implemented diverse programmes and projects to serve humanity under the dynamic leadership of eminent alumni members. The alumni united together under the umbrella of the association and made it a point to give back their best to the alma mater. They continue to hold the spirit of a true Loyolite.

With its 50 years of existence, the association celebrated the golden jubilee during the alumni day celebrations on January 26th 2017. The loyal members of the alumni association enamoured the campus during the occasion with an overwhelming participation from the various batches. The uniqueness of the get gathering was the coming together of the senior most student of Loyola along with the junior most ones, adding a radiance of colours to the day. It was also a day that witnessed a walk through the memories of Loyola from its first to its fiftieth birthday.
