Music, dance, drama and art are forms of expression through which people communicate stories of victory, tragedy, devotion and much more. In the contemporary society, expressive arts have been taken up to address social issues. Individuals and communities around the world are now using dance and poem as a way to come together and raise voice against the atrocities happening around. In a society where dance is considered as either a discipline or just a facet of entertainment where body is objectified; it is doing a good job as to work as a facet for social advocacy, healing and empowerment.
At the same time, mental health issues and social problems are piling up to which the community need a new approach rather than just ‘talking about it’. So why not take an age-old concept and find ways to deal with everything that is going around in a creative manner. Expressive art therapies are finding its way up psychologists and social workers around the world and also in India, who work across different settings- hospitals, community, corporate, educational institutions, civil society organizations and so on. Social Science students could use a new range of techniques of Expressive art therapies and in various settings to taking it up as a tool of advocacy for social change and use it for their own well-being.
Eligibility
Candidates who have a bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of 45% of marks will be eligible, for the admission to this certification course. The admission is open to all the first semester students pursuing their post-graduate programmes and research scholars of Loyola College.

METHODOLOGY
The Participatory Training Methodology of the session would necessitate an experiential, participatory, reflective, and self-learning mode of teaching. The course will be structured to include basic dance instruction, lectures, interactive group discussions, film screenings, and much more.
