  • Loyola College founded by Joseph Edamaram S. J.
  • Shri. V. V. Giri, Honourable Governor of Kerala, lays foundation stone on 2l June

1963

  • Loyola College accorded permanent affiliation by University of Kerala
  • Master’s Degree in Sociology offered

1964

  • The M.S.W.  Program and Junior College launched
  • Social Service League engages in flood disaster relief in the low lying areas of Trivandrum

1966

  • Junior College shifted to St. Xaviers’ Campus, Thumba.
  • First social service camp and socio-economic survey at Harveypuram Colony.

1967

  • The Alumni Association founded
  • Visitation by Pedro Arrupe S. J, Superior General, Society of Jesus

1968

  • Indo–Danish Oral Cancer Research Project
  • “The Loyolite” – The Alumni News Bulletin launched

1969

  • The first National Service Scheme Rural Live-in Camp at Cheruvickal

1970

  • Govt. of India appoints Loyola College as Technical Training and Orientation Centre for the National Service Scheme

1971

  • Loyola Ladies Hostel was commissioned by Sir Laurie Baker
  • ICSSR sponsored Research Methodology Training for Ph.D. Scholars
  • Shri. V.K. Krishna Menon visits Loyola Campus

1972

  • Social Service League engages in the One Lakh Housing Scheme.
  • Sutter Hall commissioned and completed by Sir Laurie Baker

1973

  • Loyola College recognised as approved Centre for Ph. D. Research in Sociology and Social Work, by the University of Kerala
  • Mother Teresa, the Saint of Calcutta visits the Campus

1975

  • Medical and Psychiatric Social Work specialisation was introduced in M.S.W.

1977

  • Department of Social Work accorded permanent membership in the Association of Schools of Social Work in India (ASSWI)

1978

  • Collaborative research on ‘System and Indebtedness of Marine Fishermen’ with University of Namur, Belgium.

1980

  • Loyola College engages with National Adult Education Programme

1986

  • Loyola Extension Services commissioned as NGO
  • Loyola Family Counselling Centre commissioned

1987

  • N. S. S. Unit No. 17-A assigned to Loyola College
  • His Excellency Shri. P. Ramachandran, Governor of Kerala inaugurates Silver Jubilee Celebrations
  • First issue of the Loyola Journal of Social Sciences released

1988

  • Silver Jubilee Valediction by His Excellency Dr.Shankar Dayal Sharma, Vice-President of India on 10th February

1989

  • Ministry of Human Resource Development appoints Loyola College for Supervision and Monitoring of Creches

1991

  • Demographic and Socioeconomic Census Study for Kayamkulam Super Thermal Project (NTPC)

1993

  • Govt. of India selected LES as the Field Training Institute (FTI) under UBSP programme (Urban Basic Services for the Poor)

1996

  • Loyola College is declared first “AIDS AWARE College” under University of Kerala
  • Loyola Alumni Association launch regional chapters of Kanyakumari and Kollam,
  • Government of India recognizes LES as the Regional Resource Centre for the Prime Minister’s Integrated Urban Poverty Education Programme
  • Dr.Armaity Desai, U.G. C. Chairperson visits campus

1997

  • Loyola College was appointed Nodal Agency by Central Social Welfare Board (CSWB), for monitoring and supervising the Family Counselling Centres in Kerala

1998

  • NSS Campers mobilized resources and constructed pucca house at Chirayilkulam

2001

  • Department of Personnel Management constituted
  • Community Development started as the second specialization for MSW
  • NAAC Accreditation award Loyola College at Five Stars

2002

  • LES undertakes international consultancy for UNICEF Nepal

2003

  • Collaborated with NSS to launch the Hariyaali(greening the roads)project
  • Loyola co-hosts International Conference on Lifelong Learning with University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
  • Loyola entrusted by European Union Action Research Project

2004

  • Engagement with Tsunami Psychological rehabilitation in collaboration with Government Medical College, Trivandrum

2005

  • Loyola Student Counselling Centre (LSCC) launched
  • Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Launched

2007

  • Reaccredited with NAAC on A Grade, with CGPA of 3.7 on a four point scale which was highest in India.
  • Vision and Mission reoriented to Research, Teaching and Extension
  • MoU with Kudumbashree for field work of students
  • His Excellency Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam visits Campus
  • Dr. Vandana Shiva delivers Dominic George Memorial Lecture

2008

  • Hosted the COJAK, the National Jesuit Alumni Congress
  • ICSSR sponsored Major Research Project

2009

  • Loyola Hall Inaugurated at LES
  • 2 UGC sponsored Major Research Project
  • Rated as 5th Best Social Work College by Outlook-MDRA National Survey

2010

  • 4 sponsored Major Research Projects of UGC were carried out

2011

  • Rated as 7th Best Social Work College by Outlook-MDRA National Survey

2012

  • Daya Bhai visits Campus
  • Rated as 6th Best Social Work College by Outlook-MDRA National Survey
  • His Excellency Shri Pranab Mukherjee, The Honourable President of India, visits college as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations on 30 October, 2012

2013

  • Launched MSc. Counselling Psychology 
  • Rated as 3rd Best Social Work College in India by Outlook-MDRA National Survey and The Week magazine

2014

  • NAAC Re-accredited in 3rd cycle CGPA of 3.72 on a four point scale with A Grade, which was highest in India.
  • MoU with Global College, Stockholm, Sweden for faculty and student  exchange programmes 
  • Launched Kerala Child Rights Observatory (KeCRO) as a UNICEF project at LES 

2015

  • MoU with Ersta Sköndal Högskola, Stockholm, Sweden for faculty and student  exchange programmes 
  • Inauguration of Loyola Health and Fitness Centre (A Full-fledged Gymnasium) 
  • Declared Loyola campus as the first Gender Variant Friendly campus. Declaration by Fr Joye James, Manager 
  • Students of Global College, Stockholm, Sweden arrived at LES for Live-in Exposure programmes

  • Golden Jubilee of Alumni Association was inaugurated by Mr. S. M. Vijayanand, the Chief Secretary 

2017

  • MoU with University of Natal, Durban for publishing Loyola Journal of Social Sciences
  • Rated as 6th Best Social Work College in India by Outlook-MDRA National Survey Mile

2018

  • Rated as 5th  Best Social Work College in India by Outlook-MDRA National Survey and The Week magazine
  • Intercollegiate programme on Swachta Action Plan by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India
  • 3rd Kerala Social Work Congress organised by the Department of Social Work 
  • Engagement with Kerala Flood Relief and Trauma Counselling in collaboration with Government of Kerala and NIMHANS.
  • Golden jubilee lecture series -3 on Contemporary India: a Socio-Political Outlook delivered by Dr Sasi Tharoor

  • Practice and Implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) initiated at the college
  •  Rated as 5th  Best Social Work College in India by Outlook-MDRA National Survey and The Week magazine
  • Flag off of the “Sustainable Development Goals Public Awareness Campaign” by the Institute for  Sustainable Development and Governance 
  • Espirit 2019 – Annual Sports Day was inaugurated by Olympian Beenamol.
  • Career with United Nations delivered by Mr. Job Zachariah, (United Nations Recovery Coordinator, Former Chief UNICEF South India)
  • Special lecture on Higher Studies: Why and Where? by Dr Muralee Thumarakudi
  • The first Jose Muricken Memorial lecture on Social Responsibility of Civil Servants in the Present Indian Context delivered by Mrs Geetha Paul IP & AFS – 74 MA Sociology

2020 

  • Golden Jubilee Memorial Lecture delivered by Mr Sitharam Yechury, MP, and CPI (M) General Secretary 
  • Establishment of the Department of Disaster Management , offering  MSW in disaster management. 
  • Stone laying of  a new academic cum administrative block.

2021 

  • Golden Jubilee Memorial Lecture delivered by Dr. Nadarajah.
